My New Best Friend

This wheel of string and I have become great friends the past few weeks. I use it all the time to make my necklaces. I think the metal string I bought but have yet to use is kinda jealous.

Wonder if I should start sleeping with one eye open?

Black Amber

This was the easiest and hardest necklace I've done so far. It's just a simple amber pendant that used to belong to my mother. Putting it on the string was the easy part. Sticking over 300 tiny seed beads took forever. At one point there were plenty of beads down my shirt shirt and in my bra. My hands got a little slippery. Meh, it happens.

A Dinner Rarity

In the entire time that I've known CraigiePoo she has never cooked fried chicken. She's always been against it on the grounds that she doesn't like to fry food and the smell gets all over the house. I guess I finally wore her down. We had homemade fried chicken for dinner tonight.

Ask long enough and you'll get it.

My Day

This pretty much sums up my day. I had my annual performance review today. Bogus is the word of the day. Apparently, I'm supposed to use my psychic ability and automatically know what is expected of me.

Simple Dinner

I'm pretty sure I've posted a picture of cornbread before, but whatever. We like cornbread in this household. By the way, if you haven't tried Safeway Select Frozen Lasagna you should. It's quite delicious for a frozen meal.

Amethyst Bracelet

My goal, one day real soon, is to make a bracelet that I can actually wear. Once again, I made the bracelet too big. It's not as big as the other previous bracelet, but it stills feel a little to big to wear out of the house. I just know I would constantly be checking my wrist to make sure it was still there.

Apparently, my wrists aren't has fat I think they are.

Amethyst Necklace

I've spent so much time in the arts and crafts stores this past month that I should start investing in the companies. I went to a new bead store yesterday in Berkeley and almost lost my mind. So many beads, so much poorness. I could hardly control myself.

I made this necklace for the one, the only CraigiePoo. It's got amethyst, hematite, and a bunch of glass seed beads in purple, silver, black, and white color. The woman loves her purple.

Quiet Fire-Self Portrait

Back in 2005 I graduated from massage school. It was an awesome experience that lasted over the course of a year. At my graduation ceremony some of classmates handed out these handmade charms and this was the one that was made especially for me. I keep this by my bedside all the time. I love it and I think it sums me up pretty accurately.

Twine Bitches!

I'm not sure if it's technically twine, but that's what I like to call it. I was going to use it for necklaces making, but I'm finding it doesn't work so well. So far I've only used it to attach pendants to the necklace string.

Beginner Goddess Bracelet-Oshun

This is another bracelet I made to go along with my Oshun necklace. It took a couple of days and losing beads twice to get it done. In the end, it turns out to be way to big for my arm. I'm still proud of it though.

Pulled out before its time

CraigiePoo is growing vegetables on our balcony. I'm not sure why, but this carrot was pulled out of the soil too early. I think it's edible. Kinda scary looking. I'm sure there's a fetus joke running around my brain, but that's going too far even for me.

Or is it?

Beginner Goddess Necklace-Oshun

Here is the last of my Orisha Goddess trilogy. This is representational of the Orisha Oshun. Her colors are yellow, gold, amber, green, and coral. I chose to use yellow, green, and coral beads this time around.

Beginner Goddess Earrings-Oya

I designed the earrings, but CraigiePoo actually did the attaching of the bead strands onto the wire. I just couldn't figure that part out. She's crafty that way. Must be a Midwestern thing. She seems to know how to do a lot of random craftiness.

Specifications:

Beginner Goddess Bracelet-Oya

My second bracelet in my beginner Orisha bracelet trilogy. This is representational of Oya. She has been really calling me heavily the past few months. I've found it quite frustrating that I can't find a lot of information about her. She's almost like the forgotten Orisha. The information I do find on her is sometimes conflicting. Some say her colors are white and red, others say brown and red, or maroon, wine, etc. I've chosen to use red and brown with a little tiny bit of purple for this necklace.

Beginner Goddess Necklace-Yemaya

This is another necklace I've created. It's the first of three I'm planning to make. The main reason I started to explore jewelry making was because I couldn't find the right necklace. It's a long story that I'll go into one day soon.

I've been reading a lot lately about the Yoruba Orisha's. This necklace is my first attempt at making neck ware that is representational of the Yemaya-the orisha who rules the sea.

I made this little trinket for the CraigiePoo. Purple is her favorite color. I'm not quite sure what she's going to do with it. I'm thinking as a bookmark.

Black Red Moon

This my third necklace. I'm kinda impressed with myself. Once again, we spent an afternoon in the craft store on Saturday and bought a bunch of stuff. I fell in love with this pendant. I didn't have any particular special order the beads were supposed to be in. I'm learning to just do and let the creative mind work.
