Prickly Purple Flower Thingie

I snapped this photo on the way to the bank. CraigiePoo and I needed to get some cash. Since the bank is right down the tiny hill we decided to walk. This flower (along with its brothers and sisters) were decorating the outside of one of the apartment buildings on our block. Once again, I don't know what kind of flower it is.
